Driving Mr. Rory

After months of listening to Rory yell every time we tried to get him to drive his powerwheel, Dan finally had success!  Like father like son with the Jeep.

Day Out With Thomas

This past Saturday, Rory was lucky to have his grandparents take him to see Thomas the Train.  I went along for the ride, and to change diapers.  He started the day by having a large breakfast of eggs, toast, sausage, blueberries, cereal, and a few bites of pancake (not good for him due to the milk, but he loves them).  Then, he took a nap in the car on our way to North Conway.

When Rory first saw Thomas, he pointed, yelled and had the biggest smile I have seen since he last saw Daddy.  Here are some of his adventures.
We met Sir Topham Hat.  Rory loved him & gave him high fives.  He actually went back to say hi again later.
Rory played with the many train tables.
And informed us that Harold the helicopter goes up in the sky.

He took a tour of an engine.

He played music.

We made handprints.

We met a tortoise that did not like to be poked in the face (which was the first thing Rory did to him).  He went back in his shell and in doing so scared Rory so bad he wouldn't touch him again.

He bounced.

We took another picture with Thomas after he took us for a ride.

After spending much of the day watching the motor rail cars go by, we finally tried one as our last ride.  Rory tried to drive.
And if all that excitement wasn't enough, he played with Mac when he got home.

The greatest day ever ended with Rory face-timing with Daddy!  Look at that smile!

As you can see, Rory is having a great summer so far.

Happy 4th of July!

Rory had a great time at his 4th of July party with the Coastie wives and kids of the Reliance.  There were wading pools, a swing set, lots of older kids to watch, and squirt guns.  I, of course, did not get a picture before he started playing and got all wet.  So, no picture in his patriotic clothes (oops).  But, here are some of the cutest little dude in the world.
Rory trying to fill up his gun like the big kids did.

Rory wielding said "full" gun.

Rory in the swing set.
The greatest thing was watching him try to be like all the other kids.  He would take his gun and stick it in the water to try to fill it up, then point it at people to try to squirt them.  Even with help from the other kids, Rory never mastered it.  However, he had his own work around.  He found (or was given by the other kids) a broken one that apparently held some water without using it properly.  He swung it around a few times and got my back soaked.  Leave it to him to find a way.

Happy 4th of July!

Rory and Isaac

Rory and I have had some busy days.  On Saturday, we went to see 2 of our best friends, Brenda & Isaac.  Rory and Isaac haven't seen each other for quite a while, but they picked up right where they left off.

Double Trouble
They had fun throwing rocks, chasing each other with baseball bats, and even did sparklers (I don't have those pictures yet though).  Isaac was super scared of them, but not Rory.  He thought they were awesome.
He can throw rocks, why can't I? - Rory

Mad man with a bat, watch out!
 All-in-all a really successful BBQ!

Rory and I also went out to lunch yesterday after church.  He had fun with the onions on my salad.  Apparently, they look like Mommy's bracelets.  After this funny picture, he bit it in half and broke it.  It took him about 4 bites to realize he didn't like it.  He proceeded to drink about half his sippy of water to get the taste out of his mouth.

Rory continues to look for Danny around the house, but I am doing my best to distract him.  Hopefully this week of school and 4th of July festivities will help.

Bon Voyage

This morning, Danny left for what will hopefully be is 3rd to last deployment ever.  Luckily for us, it's a shorter one this time.  Rory and I took him to the pier, which we decided was always best so Rory can see Daddy leave on his ship, and always come back on it.  Everything went off without a hitch.  Unfortunately, Rory knew something was up this time.  He watched Daddy unpack the car.  He gave Daddy hugs and kisses.  Then, he would not go back in the car.  He closed the car door, and proceeded to pull Daddy's finger with both hands, guiding him away from the car.  So, instead of Daddy leaving him in the car, we had Rory wave to Daddy as he got on the ship, and I put him in the car.  He did not go happily.  The same happened when he was dropped off at school.  He didn't want me to leave.  This has probably been the hardest deployment so far, since Rory knows something, but doesn't understand.

We wish Danny safe travels and are excited we get to see him soon.

Here are Danny and Rory.  It has been our tradition to take a photo of the two of them in front of the ship before each deployment.
